Butt Creek is located in Plumas County. It’s a small creek that holds wild rainbows and browns. The creek starts on the ridge above Humbug Valley and runs southeast towards Canyondam, CA. The creek is a freestone creek with small periods of being a spring creek. It flows down thru little willow lined meadows, into big old growth timber. It was dammed in 1924 to form Butt Lake. The creek flows from the lake and down to the North Fork of the Feather.
The area we fish is what I call the hidden area. A freestone area that holds many 6”-8” fish that every now and again stretches out to the 12” mark. The fish are all wild and are pretty feisty. A great little creek just minutes away from our Fly Fishing School at Lake Almanor.
